At 5:37pm on December 28, 2012, bairfoot cajun said…: howdy Aaron,how yall are? i just stopped by to try to answer your question about gluing the neck to the box.the glue i use is regular carpenters glue by elmers but i have used other types and tightbond is also a great one to use.the pic you commented on that i took was a beginning stage.to help with string tension one thing to do is add a block inside the box that glues to the box and part of the neck also. the block should be wider than the width of the neck by just a little(say if your neck is 2 inch wide)make the block 3.5 or 4 inch wide.then on the one in the pic i would add 2 screws(an upper and lower screw) through the block into the neck for extra strength.since the time of this pic i have found a few other ways to add strength to the neck to box attachment.i sometimes use a banjo bolt attachment or a lag bolt attachment.i once talke to jim mitchell about his method and he has a great method to secure the neck to the box.he has a kind of anchor bolt set up too that looks to me to be the strongest neck to box set up i have seen.thanks for your interest.
