I am already using the larger curtain rings but need to get something smaller, also what are people using for the dot inlays and how are they made ? I am UK based ..

you can use just about any thing for dot inlays get one of those plug drills for a 1/4" plug and us pertty much any thing drill a hole in the fret board glue them in and sand level. also you can use wood filler with dye or epoxy thats been died. i though about using buttons and expoying them in then sanding the expoxy flat.
Leather rivets work well and you can get them in brass, chrome, etc.
I went to Ace Hardware and got some brass grommets, I think they are about 3/4 in dia. with a 1/2 in. hole. And I used some little metal dots I got from the craft dept. at Wal-Mart.

Clive,
I am in UK and just got some ferrules from a guy on thebay. I have posted a link to his site.
See what you think.

For dot inlays, I punch a 1/4" hole in a medium weight guitar pick with a standard office hold punch, and drill a 1/4" shallow hole in my fingerboard with a forstner bit. Add crazy glue and that's that. Now I hoard cool colored guitar picks.
Sorry didn't notice that you were (UK based)

Hi Clive, I use 2 sizes of curtain grommets and the smaller have an internal hole diameter 3.5cm (outer 5.5cm) - how small are you looking for?

The bigger ones I bought from here http://www.curtaingenius.co.uk/shop/products_category.asp?cat=9 and although they sell the smaller ones I picked them up from a fabric shop between Prestatyn and Flint (have also seen them in John Lewis and a couple of curtain shops elsewhere so somewhere in Cardiff must sell them.) There was a great thread recently on fretmarkers but I am unable to find it since the forum shuffle - one person even used bullet cases. I have used these glow in the dark stick on dots from ebay which I stick some clear nail varnish over to make them permanent

Good luck with your search, David
I started using aluminum nail heads. cut the head , just leave a little of the body of the nail attached to glue into neck.
