hi mate , dont know if they make 4" reso cones , you can get 6" uke cones from www.republicguitars.com - if it's 4" your after you will have to use a tin can or something along those lines ,run a search for (reso) in the search social network tab up in the far right hand corner of every nation page , see what results you get back should give you a few ideas as to what the other guys are using for reso cones
juju.
JuJu is right I have used a 4" cake pan that I picked up from a craft store (they have lot's of cake making supplies). I have also used cones that I purchased from Republic they are great. If your stuck on 4" and going to use the cake pan - I used a shower drain for the cover plate and I ran a 1/4 bolt through the middle to hold everything tight and transfer whatever energy I could.... The sound has sort of a metal quality but it is not a true resonator.... Let me know if I created more questions than help... Good luck Jim
Thanks guys the cake pan sounds like a good idea.
Since joining the CB Nation and checking out other peoples builds, I've begun to see potential reso cone next best things or runner ups if you will. I Bought a set of cheap strings (called Crunchies)a few years back from Wal-Mart because the tin they came in is 5" dia. perfect for holding 10 or 12 CDs. But now it kinda puts me to thinking reso. Another one that caught my eye for a tiny cone (maybe for a tri-cone) is the tin that York mints come in, they're about 3 1/4" . Or for a square type reso. how about the rectangular shaped tins those CD,s for joining AOL awhile back about5.5" X 5.25".Yep I'm hooked, found a new addction! CBG's Well at least I probably won't have to look for my car, or wonder who I pi**ed off last nite! This obsession is way cooler. Wray
