Still... You Turn Me On - cover version

I love this song by Greg Lake with all the great chords and arpeggios. This is some more of that repaired parlor guitar (fun to play!). Sorry but the only cbg in this video is the one over my shoulder...

You are welcome Bear! Usually I don't use a pick for fingerpicking, but GL did so for his stuff it does make it work better. Keep on playing!

Thanks, Derek. I have electric 9s on mine and it's so loud and jumbled in some sense, muddy maybe, that I thought I'd try nylons if that was what you were using here. Arpeggios you say? Never knew what those even were until I saw the word in my new CBG Technique book. I struggle to use a pick for some bizarre reason so tend to fingerpick anyway but I definitely don't have your tone! Must learn some chords from this new book and get out of the barre chord rut. Thanks again my friend.

Thanks Bear. These are steel acoustic light strings. This song is played more softly with a pick, playing arpeggios, picking each note of a chord individually, as opposed to harder strumming or syncopated fingerpicking. The bass E is tuned down to D for drop D tuning like he played  live. I tried nylon on my other parlor to reduce string tension and not risk bowing the old neck. It has the same style metal tailpiece as this guitar though and it cut the strings... so that one got switched to extra light steel electric strings. I have seen Manitoba Hal use slide on nylon tenor/ bari ukuleles to good effect.

I enjoyed this lots. Do you have nylon acoustic strings on there? Sounds much softer than I'm used to hearing of late and I can't quite put my finger on it. Softer sounding as though it is the strings, not volume. I like the sound though so if it is nylon acoustic then I might change my parlour too.

As a side note, do you know if you can use slides on nylon strings?

I have been on an ELP kick lately, had to get this song out of my system ;)  It is a fun little guitar. I couldn't get this song to work on a 4 string so went with the Chris again. Thanks John!

Another Greg Lake.   Good choice and well done.   I like that little Chris guitar.

Yes, RIP Greg Lake. This one did take some time to learn and concentration to play. Thanks Bluesheart, Wes, Erasmo and Jim!

Excellent! You handled those chords nicely and, of course - great singing.
