Somewhere Over The Rainbow, played on four string cigar box guitar. This is the first thing I have put here using fingering rather than just slide. I really wasn't getting fingering, which I don't really understand, but for some reason something clicked and so here is my first attempt at doing something with fingering and some slide.

Funnily enough learning this coincided with that arrival of a really super gift. Keni Lee's CD 6 which uses the same tuning intervals on three strings as the upper three on the four sting that I am using. I am only just starting to go through the lessons, but it makes a lot of sense.

The guitar is tuned GDGB. The guitar has both humbucker and two piezos in the bridge. He amp is a Kustom Arrow 16DFX, set to the clean channel with the three EQ knobs level and some reverb/chorus.

By the way, if you want to hear/see how it should be done go to
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ubVGiyAhkY
and find the extraordinary Tommy Emmanuel playing what I think is the best version I have heard.

Very well done! Quite a challenge I expect, but it sounded superb.

Four strings though? Wha'? ;o)

Hi Dan.

Well, you are quite right. Doing that had a lot to do with jogging me in this direction. Always good to get a jog.

All the best.

Very nice! Maybe something clicked after you fell into the holly and ivy bushes?

Hi Hollowbelly.

Thanks for the compliment. Losing ones mum is one of the hardest losses, but then they never really leave you.

All the best.

Hi Anders and Donovan.

Thank you very much. Andy. It's always a bit worrying when someone says "this is my favourite sone". You are sure that the next sentence is going to be "and you have just spoiled it for me forever". I'm pleased if I managed to avoid doing that.

All the best.

Hi there Oily.

Thanks for the observations. I hope that as I get more familiar with finding my way around the guitar, so being able to improvise will come too. In the meantime I continue to try to improve my ability and understanding. Little steps.

Thanks again. All the best.

John
