Just a quick acoustic demo on the first day with strings. Still a little tune up to do.

Medium gauge resonator strings (.016s!) make it boom.

9" Copper Cone from Old Lowe, Mojobone Works Biscuit bridge and playing with a Mojobone Works bone and spectraply pick.

Jim,  it's not too bad tuned down.  I wouldn't want to be under my fingers though.  Still requires some good pressure.  Not much danger of bending the notes upward too much though!

Thanks Ron.  I was surprised at the difference in sound and it holds up to my expectations for a metal body reso, which was my main goal with this one.

Thanks Wes.  I'm headed out to get another pack of strings later today.  This was my last pack of resos and I think I need to take them off and make a couple more sweeps over the frets to get rid of the last of the little buzzes.  I'm going to try raising the bridge by a frog's hair first though.  If the A string on the 18s is a little heavier than on the 16s I'll get them instead.  That's one that could use a little more tension and would rattle less.

Wait...that's....The Larch! Great tone, E. That one is superb. The 9" cone does the trick.

And thanks for the compliment Jim.  I could almost give up making most cigar box guitars and do just Sawzalls instead.  I love them, especially this resonator.  I even think I could improve it with a modification inside the box.

Yeah, it looked like you were fingering pretty easily so I was guessing it was tuned down. Them farm boy hands helped too!

Nice Clock.

Yes, Jim.  They are Martin Blue Grass Electric Resonators 056-016.  I used ADgbe tuned down to F#C#f#a#c#.  Normally I do open G GDgbd, but I'm taking the guitar for a demo on Friday and the guy requested tuning down a half step.  Still, it's a good thing I have strong farm-boy, milked-two-cows-by-hand fingers or it would be tougher to play.  Great for sliding though.  :)

Man, your Sawzalls all sound great! are you saying that's a .016 for the high string?
