Made this real quickly loosely based on the plans Shane Speal posted. I'm pretty sure I'll re do this little instrument to try and make it a gourd fiddle wit...

Hey Matt, I don't have any tabs for this. Of course this is 2 strings tuned F,C (I think) and played with a slide. I could pretty easily put together some tab for a fretted instrument while I'm snowed in here for a few days.. Do you use GDg tuning? It should work out OK like that.

Jim,

You've don it again.

Is there anything that you can't make sound good.

That should work Dave. If the tambourine has a head on it you're halfway there!

I was thinking the salad bowl. I've got some in my pile of futures. Cheap tambourine too. A big dowel split down the middle for a fingerboard.

Well Dave first you put the lime in the coconut...... I've used wooden salad bowls for similar banjo uke builds. I stockpile them whenever I find them at yard sales. And you're right about the fingerboard. I looked at some vids of African players and they get notes by stopping the string with a finger but not pressing down. I was able to get a few notes that way but not consistently so I'm going to put a fingerboard on this and see what happens.
