Ever since Halloween, Pumpkin Butt Man has greeted us on our drive to the lake. Gravel pit workers made him. Nobody has smashed him yet. I wonder how long he’ll last? Back in my cabin days we put a jack o lantern out on a tree stump and a mouse moved in through the nose of the Jack. Moussie lived there all Winter. Hoar frost grew around the eyes, mouth and nose from Mouse breath. Straw stuck out of the holes. The Pumpkin shriveled up and his expression kept changing as Winter went by. The kids would check on Mousie every day and bring it treats. The snow grew deep until it was as tall as the stump. Mousies path up to her nasal entrance was like a stair case with footprints.

That greeting is a fine how do you do.   Nice chill in the air and warm near the fire.  That is a mighty purty git.  Light snow here too.

Thanks Brian. Thanks Bones. Snow is sticking this time. Staying below freezing for our daily high. Sauna sure felt good. Got closer to being buttoned up at the lake today. Maybe a few more good work days there before Chilly Willy kicks us out.
