Very nice uke Daddy. You bring it alive. Thanks for another lesson as well.

Good sound out of that ukulele. I'm betting those canjos with tobacco tins will be cool too. Sounds familiar and I can definitely attest to them being fun to play.

Oh yeah, here's the other problem. When I'm making an instrument I'm thinking that I should really be practicing my fiddle but when I'm practicing I feel like I should be finishing a build! Even for a retired guy there just isn't enough time.

If you want to try one I'd suggest a broom handle or a dowel for a one string fretless. Then all you'd need is a hand drill and a screwdriver. Fitting a proper tuner might be tricky but an eye bolt would certainly suffice. The bigger problem is that if you have one successful build then you'd be hooked and there may be no end to it!

Thanks Jim. I really want to try and make one. I looked into the tools I would need and it seemed pretty crazy. Also I don't have a workshop to do all the sawing, drilling and planing. Maybe I just need to leave it to the clever folks like you!!

Sounds great Les. Fine playing on a cool uke that has character. Excellent review too. Canjos are such fun and easy builds you should have a go at them yourself! Last year I did a workshop at the local school for blind and partially sighted kids and 25 youngsters with impaired vision made their own canjos which they were able to play and keep. Of course I'd already done some hole drilling but they selected which can they wanted and did the actual assembly.

Tasty!   Must be a well made soprano uke to play that well.   I like the age on the tin.  Nice review.
