A customer supplied this pretty little box. Maybe a bit smaller than I would have liked but it turned out pretty good.

Thanx, I haven’t heard that song in so long, a classic

That’s a nice crisp tone, clear as light! Matches your voice and the story perfectly Jim!  Small box with a big voice! The guitar that is.

Yup wes, lots of affection then and now for a good mule!

Thanks Keith. I'm just a few miles from the C&O canal. Fortunately it's become a National Park and much of it remains.

Yup Unc, salty indeed!

You can see remnants of the canal in a town near me, and when traveling on I-79, to Erie, and some on I-90 to Buffalo NY. Don't know if there is any left down by Pittsburg. Sounds good, and always like your perfomance.

Jim, it's like Salty Dog.   The intentions at the time were quite 'salty'.

Thanks Unc. I knew this song dated back to pre Civil war days but this helps fill in the blanks. Wait, why did you put "dancing girls" in quotes? lol

Super nice sound and performance.
The song writer, Hodges,  wrote the song about the women in the canal district in Buffalo, New York. At the time the district was the western terminus of the Erie Canal and the place where canal and freighter crewman were paid off. This resulted in a high amount of bars, concert-hall dives, and brothels in the district where the men spent their money and hundreds of "dancing girls"
