now i c why u didnt want that tailpiece..it got holes in the body! dude! thats one helleva restor! ahhh shit nevermind im not sure that tailpiece would do ur work justice! lol!
Hi again. The channel stock for the bridge and/or nut was a simple answer to a couple of conditions. It is a consistent height and it can serve as string spacer. I must admit, there is something funny about the sustain and when using them, I found that the edge had to much flat giving miniscule buzz and unusual overtones. ( I use what I find sitting around, so it is a challenge, but in the end, seems less contrived and more real) (like the way I see your Champ- raw and real, with a history yet made playable.)
Sounds like you are actually much more experienced that I, but I have fun building and playing, nothing pro in either case. I am sure you will find lots of interesting things in this tuning, but one I have not mentioned is the ability to pick up the E and sound minor yet resolve to major by picking up the D in the next phrase. ( I don't really know theory so I am just trying to describe it the best I know how).
Thanks for the comments and interest. I have been putting a lot of recent activity on Facebook because there is an interested person/protege looking into my projects there. I started using G6 because of available strings and its closeness to open G or Dobro open G, so I could try to use familiarity on one tuning to help me with the other. The notes I use, and really like , are (hi to lo) d,b,g,e,d,g. So the high end can give you dobro licks, the e gives you minors (jazz or Hawaiian), the lo b-g gives you power chords.
By the way, I really like the look of using the original condition with the new refurb on the Fender Champ, Again, thanks for sharing.
Hi Dave, thanks for your request. Making an FP1 needs almost the same effort as to build an FP3. I think I would offer it for 29 USD per piece. For an order of two Diddley Bugs I would say 50 USD plus only one shipping fee of 6 USD. - How about that?
Finally got back home from our working vacation. Opened your CD and love the sound of your band. The selection of tunes is great. Hope you received the CD from me. We had a lot of fun on our trip. Met a lot of good people, played a lot of music and made some new friends. But, its good to get back home. Now, I've got to get ready to leave for Pipestone tomorrow. Busy times. Craig
Wow, I'd like to see that collection! I currently have around 11 or 12 hanging on my Home Office walls (I don't recall the exact number I'm on the road in Jacksonville, Fl for a couple of days working)
Hey, thanks for the welcome Dave! I'm glad to be here, and I'm sure I'll learn a ton as well! I just received Mike Orr's book in the mail the other day, and I love how it clear and straightforward it looks. Very excited to continue building even more instruments after I get this first guitar finished!
lol, sure is Dave! I always make sure I have safety glasses on now. Sounds like overkill if you have never had it happen with steel strings but holey moley Batman they sure could take an eye out.
hi, rough n fluff bridge explosion happened about 3 nano seconds after I tuned it for the first time. It was actually the tail piece that let go. It's screwed in place now.
Woo Hoo! You did it! Glad I was able to help out! Lovin' the jug band sound. I could see y'all doing this on Main Street at Disneyworld, and gathering a huge crowd!
Noticed you were having trouble loading music files to CBN. You mentioned your files were in iTunes on your Mac. How were they recorded? If recorded into the Mac, then they will be in AAC format, an Apple proprietary "lossless" format that has a .m4a file extension. If this is the case, you need to convert this file format to mp3 format ( which will subtly degrade the sound quality, but will take up less space, and is also the format the Ning platform that CBN runs on is expecting, as it is the most widely available format). You can use iTunes to resave your m4a files to mp3 format, and there are also free coversion programs available that do this. I use Audacity on my PC, since I record into my iPad in GarageBand, which automatically outputs files in m4a format. I e-mail the m4a files to myself, suck 'em into Audacity, convert them back out to mp3s, then do the upload process pick described. It's not the best or only way to do this, but it works for me.
in your profile at the top under "latest activity " .. , there is a menu bar . "share , blog , discussion ,, music etc .... click " music" ,, you can up load sound files there .. they will play on the front home page to the left . anyone can see your song and click it to play from the list . ;-)
I've been meaning to do a cover of this since I got my David Bowie Stylophone last Christmas. This song is outside my vocal range and difficult to sing, but ...

Dave,
Here's the actual way to use iTunes to do the m4a to mp3 conversion (wasn't sure if you knew this):
