Chris, I tried several different ways to simulate a bearing using stainless rod with different types of PVC pipe, etc for rollers with poor results. All of the string tension would be concentrated on the back side, making it almost impossible to tune. I finally found some " conveyor bearings" on eBay that work perfect for tuning.
