Traded a CBG for this old Tenor (four string)

Solid spruce top. No brand name or markers. One bad tuner that I replaced. The rest are stiff and may be replaced. New strings. Some issues with the pins and holes that hold the strings, but that problem is overcome for now.

Plays and sounds about as good as I think a four sting can.

Will most likely electrify later on.

Small necks are the best for my bad hands and this is of course smaller than a six string neck.

BONUS - I rate a 5- 6 on six string and at least a 7 on a four string. :)

Will use this at home and at local jams where the CBGs lack volume with lots of players. This one is loud enough to hold its own.

Yeah Unc, You could use a 6 string set and piece it together. Which strings depends on the scale length of that particular tenor. On a 24" scale 4 string banjo tuned GDae I used 6th, 4th, 3rd and 1st from a light guage 6 string set if I remember correctly. And by the way - I rate about a 4 on a 12 string and a 1 on a 1 string.

Oo, that's a nice tenor. I've been playing mandolin lately and like the little neck. However, i'm getting too many mandolins lately. Might be time to sell a couple...

Thanks, Reeds, Pick and Jim.  I am excited as heck about this one.   Yeah, Jim.  I know you can do that and may try it some time.   Different strings are needed, correct?

Good trade Unc. If I had it I'd make it an octave 4 string mando. There are so many ways you can go with a tenor and the slimmer neck is a good thing!

Thanks Ted and me too on liking tenors.   Cool on the ones you are building.   Man, tenors are really overpriced right now.   Way more than the equivalent sixer.

I would like to find a banged up one now and use it for GDGB slide.

Not too often I say this Uncle John, but I am full of envy right now. I really like tenor guitars, especially older ones. Very nice. I am currently building a set of solid body electric tenor guitars, but am in serious "want" of an acoustic one.
