Finished item. Meet the four-string lap steel with tin resonator. Wrapped in wallpaper, two piezo pick up inside the tin and added bits thanks to the anonymous pick from CBN inspiring me to be brave.

That's lots of fun. I play every Monday at a coffe shop in a song circle. Each player takes a turn to lead a tune. We formed a band from this and are now tight friends. Music means a lot to me. It must be done. Keep on pickin!

Thanks, Dave. A long way to go but I'm on the road and enjoying the journey. Whether I ever get to the point of being able to play or not I'm sure as anything going to enjoy myself doing this. One never knows either, I might do as Shane Speal just said on the 'four string open G chord' YouTube video and "get out to an open mic" one of these days.

Well the wally has come good. Finally got the lapsteel restrung IN THE RIGHT ORDER and tuned it. MUCH better lol It sounds a bit tinny without being plugged in but when it's amped up, wow! What a beautiful sound and, compared to my three string, that fourth really does add a touch of depth with the barred chords! I'm using an empty electronic cigarette liquid refill bottle for the slide which is made of glass and nice and hefty. A bit like a liquid medicine bottle but much smaller. Bars the chords really well and sits in the palm of my hand with the heel of the hand touching the strings to avoid any ghost noises. I'll post a recording of it probably in the morning. I'm worn out from several days of building in a row. I'm sure not as young as I used to be! lol

Way cool Dani. When i first started playing claronet, i played it with the mouthpiece upside down for a long time until i got a book with a kid playing claronet with the correct mouthpiece position. I was pretty good at it upside down.... :^)

What a wally! I just looked on YouTube for lessons on how to play four string in open G. I've only gone and strung the strings back to front, upside down, wrong top to bottom and bottom to top. My thickest string is tuned B which is why it's so bassy haha. Oh well, I'll restring it and start again. I just hope that I can reuse the same strings because they're the last set and I had to buy them specifically for this build. Laughing about it but wow do I feel daft!

Thanks, Bluesheart. I feel shattered now thinking back at all the steps it took lol It sounds pretty good and I've got it tuned GDGB. The B is soooo low and bassy. Nice but perhaps not quite right. Maybe better once the strings have settled down? I used to find my ukes needed a bit of settling in time for the strings so perhaps that's the case here?
