Banjer in progress.

I have admired the banjers by Jim Morris, Lonesome Dave Lynas and Sleepy Dick Limpsome.

I am trying one on my own. I intend to go back and study Lonesome Dave's photos and steal him blind. At least steal his ideas.

I will also study on Jim's and Dick's and borrow freely. Screw em' if they can't take a joke. (or outright theft - do they have patents? Hmm?)

The back of this one is the back of an actual factory banjo. My grand daughter wanted an open back banjer and this is the back I saved after repairing and gifting her a banjer.

Lift with your legs. The back you save may be your own.

This will start out as a 4 string. It is set up (I think) so I can later change to a 5 string if I get that yen.

The top is a thin craft plywood.

So far, pretty good. Now the sad part. Between work, mowing at my mama's and going down to St. Louis for a CBG club house ~ ~ I won't get time to work on this is any more until next week.

PS: Do NOT tell Dave, Jim or Dick about this.

Thanks, Wes.  I guess that is why I had to try making one.

That is my nephew, Maddog, and he gave me the go ahead.  :)

Lookin' good! Can't wait to hear this one.

As far as that wood top banjo patent.........I do believe you have to discuss that with this guy......

By the by, I've been ordering great calf skin heads from the Thinnest Man. Off ebay. 16 inch skins at affordable rates. I've bought more than a dozen from him and repaired as many banjers.

Well the word is out on the street Uncle. Guard your loins Mr. Never heard of banjer envy. Sounds serious. Take two hits of elixer and don't call me lonesome. I got friends ya know. Othern that. Nice banjer there gent. Tony's got a nice banjer going. He tried the band clamp and glue with a calf skin head one a band sawn Doug Fir pot. It worked great. It will be very loud.

Hey!!! What's the big idea? You have to know the secret handshake before you go stealin' ideas and makin' banjos.

Well it's looking good Unc and I guess I won't get any lawyers involved in your blatant infringement on the thin wood top banjo patent of which I am the sole patent holder. I also invented the internet and that Zuckerburger guy stole my idea for Fakebook!
