This is what led me to CBN. These are several Canjo necks I made for a friend. He asked if I'd ever considered making instruments and mentioned his project teaching music to kids and how he wanted to have canjos for them all to play. Well, I have a barn full of walnut and a love to build things, so I took off. In researching canjos I fond this site and I am totally hooked. I have several nice cigar boxes and piles of wood. Looks like its gonna be a fun winter!

:) I'll have a bunch of these at Shakori this year,  Whatever I don't sell (perhaps the entire lot) will be donated to my local music teacher friends after the festival.  I really just intend them as booth-fillers.  They really do make good weapons...

Every stick in the hands of a boy quickly becomes a weapon.

Nice work.

I have a lot of short, skinny pieces of walnut I had no idea what to do with up until a few weeks ago.  I much prefer canjo necks to kindling!

Talk about kicking a canjo up a notch!!!  Beautiful walnut necks!!  We use primarily poplar and oak for our cbg's.

Wow, those necks turned out really nice!! It's funny you mention weapons, since I built some for my grandkids and they became weapons really quickly.

My friend stopped by today and said the kids loved this first batch.  But, he thinks the necks may be a bit long at 24".  They started to look like weapons in their hands :)

He asked if I could shorten the next batch to maybe 18".  I said sure, but  I'm kind of addicted to building CBGs now...
