Cut-down rod piezo wedged in a brass tube and plugged with brass rod. Hopefully removes the need to house the piezo in the saddle.

Sweet!

The rod is squeezed into the tube with a cocktail stick to provide the pressure.  I'm hoping that will work.  At least it should look shiny :-)

You just need the saddle to set dead on the rod, they work best from direct pressure on the rod from the saddle.

That's neat, Randy.  The way the neck is set I don't have the space for a high bridge.  All I need to do now is carve a saddle for the rod...........what could possibly go wrong ?  ;-)

Rod piezo fiddle bridgeMojobone Works - Rod Fiddle bridge

Thanks Dan.  It works, in that I've tested it by connecting it to an amp just to check that I didn't destroy the piezo when I cut it.  It's going on the bridge of a fiddle conversion so we'll see how it sounds.

Cool idea.  I'd love to hear how this works out for you.
