18 veneers laid out in three sets of six , ready to be laminated together , glue one set of six together at a time clamp and leave to dry 48 hours if using white glue , if using Gorilla glue 2 hours only !
when you have all three sets of six glued up ,glue the 3 sets together to make one laminate with 18 layers , make sure you alternate the grain on every laminate/layer all 18 !
i would use gorilla glue for 1 , it dries fast 2, white glue wets the wood and could do with at least 48 hour to loose the moisture
The woods are Red =Padauk ,Brown/Black = Bog Oak and the white is Hornbeam .

Hey juju - thanks alot for the reply, very good info. The knob work, pup rings and jack plate are sick...What a nice way to detail out everything. Your builds stand out among all I have seen...keep building bro!

Yes Ted The Bog Oak was a first for me also but i've used Hornbeam once before , with the hornbeam you have to make sure that it does not come into contact with steel clamps when glueing as its like Oak ond reacts with steel leaving Black marks
Cheers Bro

Hi Shane , alternating the grain direction is a must - it makes a super hard laminate , baisicaly all your making is laminated Ply , if you put all the grains in the same direction there would be no great strength to it at all - that would be ok for making bandings or inlay work like i did on my Mayorga reso ( headstock and Body banding details )
thanks for your intrest bro

Hey thanks for posting this, very cool technique and your end product is awesome. Is alternating the grain direction a requirement or a preference?
