I have had good luck spraying a pre-catalyzed lacquer directly over the stickers and paper covered boxes.

SCIENCE!

You may try to use a homemade "fixative" - dissolve few pieces of styrofoam in the paint thinner (Oily - that's your "CHEMISTRY!" cue) and put a layer of it before spraying/painting with polyuretane clearcoat. It's an old (as old as styrofoam and paint thinners ;-) ) joiners' trick - the coat of fixative both fixes everything on the painted surface (paper, dust etc.) and prevents "soaking" the surface with the PU clear.

Of course - YMMV - try it first on a less visible spot.

MP,

Are you spraying polyurethane clearcoat directly on them? You might want to try spraying a couple layers of fixative / spray adhesive on them first before the clearcoat, the kind used on posterboards and such for school projects. I've had good success with this on other things (not CBGs).

For boxes with stickers on them, how and what can you coat them with so they don't peal up and are protected?

I tried many layers of poly and gluing them back down but they don't see to want to stay.

Mike,

You could use the Stew-Mac fret calculator online. There are also a number of other online fret calculators:

http://www.stew account.com/FretCalculator/

Spacing for all string instruments with the same VSL will be the same regardless of the number of strings (except for some Eastern instruments). There are several
good fretting charts online, I think one on this site. Read down this forum and you'll get LOTS of info.

Can someone do me graph showing the spacings for the frets, from the nut down?

I am building a four sting CB.

Or am I just going to have to copy from a normal guitar fret set up!

Hope you can help this simple mind.

Mike Ridley.
