Hi all - just finished my 'Frankenbox bass' made from an old packing crate which got a bit of re shaping and 3 very bust basses out of a dumpster at my local dump.

I still getting the set up just right - I'm still getting used to "going frettless" but it plays well

Looks great...better than a regular cigar box for a bass. Piezo?

James,

The box is a cigar cabinet of some kind.  Cuesta Rey "Ambassador" box.  The card from the inside listed 3 different cigars.  This was either a gift-selection or a big display in a shop. 

I wanted very much to have a cigar box, instead of a paint-box or something else this size.  I lucked into this thing for a couple bucks on eBay.

Hey Gary - yeah it's a monster but it is a right handed instrument - I was using the web cam on my iMac and it makes everything look reversed. Hope this helps!

Hi Tom,

Wow, that thing is a beast. Just the sound that I am looking for but it is set up for a lefty and the knobs would be on the bottom if I played it. That thing is huge but I still may consider if I can't find something a bit smaller with the same kind of smooth, deep warmth. You did a great job on that one.
