Your scrolls look real good! I'll check out the Mottola method and see what I can do. I hadn't thoght about adding the scrolls into the head which some of your pics show. Love getting (stealing) new ideas!
Jeremiah, I'm glad to have you for a nation friend. I like your bass a lot. Nice photos of it in progress and you use one of my fave tools, a four in hand rasp. Like the single f hole Padron a lot too.
I made a simple cbg 3 string bass a while back. Could not play it much, but a bass player said it was pretty good and told me what needed improvement. I did the improvements. I intend to give it to a different bass player, but have not gotten that done yet.
Right now, I am messing too much with builds and not playing as much as I should.
Hi Jeremiah. Did you check out my blog? There is information on there about what I am doing. I am going to use Washers and Wing nuts for Tuners. I wanted to make it headless. During an experimental run I strung it up with some Weed eater string that I had around the house. It sounded pretty good. I am going to rub Tung oil it over the next few nights and hook up my pezo and jack and it should be ready to go. I can’t wait to hear what it sounds like when I’m done. Have a great day.
Don't know if I can leave this comment here at work but I'll try. I'll get back to you tonight. The Box I'm building is for my son and will be headless. Check out my blog.
This box is in for a shock cause im gonna rip off the top and replace it with an old securicor sign and maybe put a single coil hot rail in to beef things up ?
and yes i was going for a early east anglian sutton hoo type helm but this will change to a type of closed helm, id also like to make a pigface bascinet or sallet helm.
but having only 24 hours in a day is a major set back(i must try harder to win the lottery)
Cheers fella for the kind words
Its actually a harrods fish knife set i was kindly given by my lovely mother in law.
the helm is just another one of my first try outs (ran out of rivets)
maybe i should build a cbg in shining armour if i joust had the time?
