I bought a job lot of five 3/4 sized violins which had a Stradivarius label on one.
I think everyone has that 30 second thought that maybe, just maybe it could be real and the punter flogging it for 99p no reserve on eBay couldn't read the clearly marked name on the label.
It is a bit like doing the lottery on line and getting the "Good news about your ticket" email. 30 seconds of what to spend the £££££££ on only to find you have won £10.

It seems that every violin built since about 1850 has some kine of Stradivarius label hidden inside.

The label refers to the shape of the violin, not the maker.  Sometimes they say "in the style of".

I did drop a tray of eight pints of Fed' Special beer, missed the table !

If the situation was reversed, and in fact you had used a real Strad for a cbg, I would love to see the look on your customer's face when you explained that the price for the 3 stringer was $4 million. Would be the most expensive CBG in the world.

I wonder what the most expensive CBG there is?

Daddy Mojo 9 string resophonic goes for $1695. I may be wrong, but that's the most expensive CBG I have ever seen.

$1850! that must be the most expensive cbg. as far as I know

Well then, looks like $1850 is the new benchmark for CBG pricing. Nice thing about Ebay is that you can list an item for sale for no charge, that is until it sells. Ebay gets a slice, and Paypal gets a slice too. So basically, anyone could make a cbg, put whatever price they like, and just wait for someone with deep pockets to snatch it up.

Are CBG's worth a four-digit price? Well, I suppose if Gibson or Fender can ask for $3000-6500 for one of their new guitars, why shouldn't we be able to ask for a little something extra for the effort? It comes down to how one values his or her work, matched with patience and a willing buyer who recognizes a product that suits a given need.
