I ve recently gotten into cbgs and i have a box (ceder a. fuente), strings, tuning pegs(gold grover imperials :) ), an output jack, and possibly a neck.

I have a few concerns with the build:

  1. Is a long(3-4ft.) 1x3 pine good for a neck
  2. Is the box i have big enough(7 3/16 x 7 1/4 x 2 5/8)
  3. What kind of piezo should i use

I plan on possibliby starting the build tonite so a quick reply would be helpful

Should be. Keep in mind that pine is soft wood and might bend but not my much. 3- string is what I would do. Might want to make it a 1x2 (1x1/5).

Sounds fine to me.
3. What kind of piezo should i use
Radio Shack Piezo Element 1500-3000Hz Model: 273-073 | Catalog #: 273-073

ALSO download the free plans from the Free Resources menu above. Brian Lemin has a good set.

thanks ill be sure to follow that are their any other builders that would like to throw in their two cents
I think Wes covered it well. I wouldnt worry much about a perfect build. Just jump in, learn on this one and use what you learned on the next one.
It seems to me like I learn something on every build, and I've built over 300 of these things so far.
You'll find that boxes react differently ,wood thickness makes a huge difference. You'll also learn how to get around problem builds so you can still use "problem" boxes .
Its a fun hobby, have fun and dont sweat the small stuff.
It seems to me from the advice I've read that there is no such thing as just building one CBG!!!!
Uhhhhhhhhhhh ,YEPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!
When I built my 1st one, I found myself figuring out what I was going to change on the next one before I even figured out that I was going to build a next one.
Its addictive!
As someone used to say here on the Nation ...

"Welcome to your new addiction."

I have not finished my first one and it has changed some along the way, for the better I hope. Already thinking of the next 2 or three since I just picked up 4 more box's from the local cigar shop. Very nice man just gave 'em to me.
Wes is right another new addiction for me.
