Electric or acoustic strings?

So I assume this question will seem stupid but I’m gonna ask it anyway. Is there more to which type of strings you use than how are you want to play your cigarbox guitar? If you’re typically going to be playing it without an amp do you use acoustic and if you’re going to plug it into an Amp use electric strings? Is it that simple and steadfast? Or are there other things you might sometimes consider? Does anybody ever use acoustic strings for a guitar they’re going to play electrically? I randomly have used whichever strings I have and typically play my guitar electrically. It seems both strings can sound good but I don’t know all the differences and nuances. If you have anything to share to help me understand that better that Would be great. There are a lot of things to learn about how to build the best cigarbox Guitar :-)

Phosphor/Bronze doesn’t have any magnetic qualities to it,  so a magnetic pickup can be useless?  you’ll get little sound, but it’s only because of the steel core? That’s why they use Piezos on acoustics? Personally, I use Nickel wound strings on all my builds, because I prefer the sound & can easily be amplified.

 Hello,

Not a stupid question at all. I might add to what Brian posted that nylon will work fine with piezos since piezos work on vibration, not magnetic fields. I have a couple of cbgs that have bronze strings since I added the magnetic pickup some time after the build and just didn't change them out. They are loud enough for us in our living room, but would be useless trying to gig or busk with. Hope that helps.
