I just got the amp done this morning . It has my friend Al's Fender Frontman 15G for guts. Had to bend the chassis front to a right angle for how I was going to mount it. I reinforced the front and back of the suitcase with 1/2" ply. Made a new heat sink plate for the output IC to fit the new mounting. It had an old leather name tag on it when I pulled it out of the trash so I gave my friend a blues nickname "Big Al" I found the suitcase in the trash on the way to work on my bike....must have looked pretty funny a guy on a mountain bike with an old suitcase .

Nice! Can't beat tweed.

Thanks Guys its got the stock Fender Frontman 15G speaker 8"I think forgot already what size hole I cut last week!

suitcase amp... I wonder if that can be used as evidence in divorce proceedings... you guys are going to get me in SO MUCH TROUBLE!!!  that thing is awesome... eh oh well at least I can get the remainder of my belongings in the amp when she kicks me out....

You can find the suitcases on ebay but this one was free on trash day ...so what could she say about FREE..plus I gave it away when I finished it.

oh sure the suitcase is cheap or free, but the innards aren't, and then the tools that I have to buy to complete the build, then then next one cuz there are so many improvements I want to make and mistakes to correct.. I wonder if I can find a suitcase big enough for a marshal stack.... wanders of mumbling...

I looked in the search for "vintage suitcase" but first look under vintage guitar amps for Supro old ampeg and the like....that way some of the suitcase prices won't shock you. Second hand stores might be a place to look also. Old Supro in photo.

Thought about aging it cigarette smoke tinted lettering and small red or cream chicken head knobs but time constraints for other stuff made me wrap it up like that. I start too many things at once examples right now 1959 schwinn 20" to strip powdercoat and build up for grandson, ukulele for niece , 1941 Chicago made Manton and Smith bicycle to powdercoat and build for me, 3 string Cbg for friend who got the suitcase amp, pickup prototype to build and wind from laser cut parts some trim to sand and paint in the house and a bunch of other things....

That is awesome Gary, I am looking at old portable record players as a donor for the box. That could be cool with the right one.

I'm aging just reading his honey-do list!
