2011 Cigar Box Nation Christmas Album

I know it seems early, but Christmas will be here before you know it.

Shane had organized the Christmas albums in the past, but in his absence, CB Gitty asked me if I would like to coordinate it for this year.

For any of the new folks here on the Nation, we have compiled a yearly album of songs played, composed, sung, or whatever, by our members. The primary requirement is that the recording be of fairly good quality. For example, If you are singing, we want to be able to hear your voice. You get my drift...

The 2009 Christmas album contained 23 songs, and the 2010 Christmas contained 40 songs. More songs is not necessarily better, but we really don't have a limit on the number of songs we can include.

You can submit a cover of a traditional song, or you can do something you wrote/composed yourself.

Please respond in this thread if you would like to participate, and include the song that you would like to have included in the album. Once we have the final album compiled, it will be posted as a free download, and anyone will be able to download it. So, you will be able to pass the links along to your friends and family.

I will post more information later.

Thanks

Dan

Dan, im gonna do an original instrumental called "Josiah's Song",

John (Johnny Stompbox)

are pagan YULE submissions accepted ? ;-)

-maybe you should have called it a december "holiday album."

but if you wish it to be purly christian .. count me out .

then again maybe i already was .

Hey anonymous, I doubt Shane's Run Run Rudolph from last year would be filed under 'religious'.

really ?  ..  well .  since    the story of  santa  was  derived from the god  Odin  ,    i'm sure some would disagree . but anyway .

are   you  saying  that  pagan religions are not even  religions  ???

the title in the post   leans toward a  christian bias celebration  only .  not  just "religious"  persay .

Sorry anonymous, I was just trying to make you feel welcome, not make any definitive statements about what is religious/christian etc...... And I would consider Pagan religions to be religions......

;-) understood ,  i'm just elaborating  on the  point   on  how easy it  is to  do  just the oposite .   even unknowingly .

Thanks.... Glad I didn't upset you too much. I look forward to hearing your contribution. For the record, my instrumental had no particular 'Christian' relevance, it's just about roasting food slowly.......

not upset at all ,  i  enjoy a chance to spread awareness  ;-)

and attempting to  make a point .  remind people  of habit formed thoughts .  make them  think a bit  ;-)

you know  ;-)

I feel that there is room for all music whose goal is to celebrate the positive aspects of the holiday season, regardless of the specific religious background you come from. This is supposed to be a happy time - whether that is because you believe in the rebirth of the Sun God on the Winter Solstice, or whether you believe Jesus was born in a manger on December 25, or whether you believe that Great A'Tuin the star turtle hiccups ever year on January 1. Let's keep it fun, lighthearted and positive.

Ben, Dan,

Count me in for an original, then: The Hogfather Brings Great A'Tuin A Present

>:-E.

whats the title   of the  album ?  all may be  welcome  ,  but all may not be willing to catagorize  their song  under a certain  "lable " .
