Keep it clean gents if you can! lol

So heres the problem - Iv built a reso and Im sticking a piezo (well, 2, daisy-chained together) in it. I encased them both in wood, got the silicone out to stick the to the underside of the cone (biscuit tin lid) and then panicked!

Wont the silicone and the 2 lumps of wood stop the tin resonating?

If it does, what do you guys do - do you get the same effect mounting them in the body near the tin?

Im desperate to get them stuck in and get her strung up, so any ideas greatly appreciated!

I think you'll have to experiment..simple piezos are fickle things, and in all honesty, it might not be a bad thing to stop the tin resonating, as piezos can be very prone to feedback.

I'd suggest using double sided tape to trial-fit them and see how it goes. How big is the wood that you've encased them in?
sorry not much use to you i know , but you know where i'd stick em lol!! ........................... no not there i was gonna say in the bin ! why do you always think the worst of me hehehe!

yeah i'd go with John and try using double sided tape and experiment , i'd start right under the bridge and work outwards

have fun Bro

juju.
All you funny talking folks across the pond can just stick a piezo in that dark little space where the sun will never shine on it.....inside your cigar box. Seriously, here's a couple of discussions about that very thing. Think positive thoughts and maybe one of our premier reso builders will let you in on where they put em.

Wonderful me ol' muckas, the little fellas are in and working tip top!
Somehow the wiring all worked and there doesnt seem to be any problem switching between the piezos and the magnetic pup - or having both on together. No real feedback issues, so alls well.
I went with siliconing tem directly under the bridge, on the bottom of the tin. Its not as twangy as Id have thought, but it works, and that in itself is a miracle!!

Il move them about a bit, see if I can improve the noise, then do a video - thanks for your help lads!
you may get a better reso sound by changing the bridge to a biscuit type , because the bridge you have used is long it could be stopping the lid resonating ? just a idea juju.

Good idea - you could be right.

Also I think Il enlarge the hole the lid sits in fractionally as its a tight fir at the moment, and maybe move those piezos onto the body - the lid should then be free to wobble to its hearts content!
