Hey all.  I was wondering if anyone has used the products from CBGitty.  I am in Japan, and I saw the posting on the tuning pegs for CHEAP.  I would like to buy them if they are good, but I don`t want to sink a bunch of money into them if they SUCK.  I was planning on buying 10 packs of the pegs.  Tuning pegs here in Japan are out the roof as far as price.  It would lower my cost on making these CBGs if I could find a great shop with good prices and that can send products to Japan.  I am already paying over 10 dollars per CIGAR BOX (price plus shipping) ordering from America.  Can any of you out there give some insite on the products esp. the piezos, jacks, and the tuning pegs?  OR if you have other sites for ordering products, please let me know.

Much thanks.

I have purchased from Gitty many times and am always very happy.  Top notch customer service and as others have said, he's one of us.
Shane's right on about those peizo rod pickups.
Boy howdy, Japan is a tuff place be be right now it appears. Gitty's the man.
I bought some tuners and some other products from Gitty and was very happy with the quality and prices of their products and I was very surprised on the speed of delivery..I highly recommend them.
I have bought a number of items from CB Gitty over the last few weeks - good quality products, fast postage, no problems!

If finding cigar boxes in Japan is difficult, do what I do: build your own boxes. If you have a cheap source for trim wood, you can laminate your own necks and build your own boxes. I use 2mm thick laminate for the soundboard and back board. Works great. Can make your boxes as big or small as you like, and in other shapes, not just rectangular. Check out my discussion group on CBN: Home Made Resonator Boxes 101.  I live in China, so cigar boxes are about as common as hen's teeth. Some people also like to decorate the boxes they build, but I like to natural wood look.

I also have an English-Chinese glossary on my other CBN discussion group: Chinese/English CBG Cultural Interest Group. This glossary focuses on guitars and music terminology, including common parts for CBGs.  So, if you decide to buy using http://www.taobao.com or http://www.alibaba.com, you can cut and paste these Chinese characters in as key words to search on. The glossary is entitled "Guitar Terminology Word List ".

geared tuners = 齿轮 (chǐ lún)

tuning pegs = 弦轴 (xián zhóu)

So far all my tuners I have bought from local shops, some for as low as 5 RMB a piece (less than 1 US dollar). What I have found difficult to find is the small screws to mount them with. I did locate a source (a repair shop for surveyor's equipment, but I need a more reliable source).

I have been happy with Gitty's service and shipping time.  The economy tuners are okay, not great, but have not failed me.  He has better ones.  The really cheap jacks are not too great, the others are good and the combo strap pin/jack is excellent.  He gives good value.

:D

I've bought and used knobs, fretwire and both "good" and "cheap" tuners from Gitty.

Good prices and good product, no problems.

G'luck.

It is amusing that he gets the stuff from Asia, then has to ship 'em back. Cigar boxes from S. America would travel the same circuit too.

Aargh.

I have loved everything I get from Gitty. My last build "Undertaker" had frets, tuners, piezo, jack, corners and strings from CB Gitty, all good quality and you can not beat the price or the service. Best of all, he is one of us!
