Help for beginner

Hi, I’m looking for help with my CBG playing. When chord names are shown above a melody tab, are the chords strummed at the same time as the melody string would be picked? So far I’ve only been attempting to play the melody tabs.

yes, is basically your answer.

the chords can be played by a second player or as an advasnced technique you can find a cord patern that has the melody note in it that way you can play both chords and melody...

Michael, the chord names are shown in reference to where the melody plays out within the chord progression? Basically as a guide?
