It is mellow.  I am still using guitar strings on my fiddle.   Dave says I should upgrade.  Probably Viola strings.  I think violin strings would be too short.

it has viola strings so it is mellower than a traditional violin. That is what I think you are hearing Uncle John

Nice.   It kind of has  a bit of minor key sound to it.  That's a song I do on my two string fiddle.

Nice playing Matthew fiddles are hard to play I have one never got very good on it , couldn't  put the guitar down long enough to learn to play it well . got to get that thing out of the closet and give it another Try . Amazing Grace Beautiful song.
