All I need now for Radio Active is the waterslide printout and the poke a dots. The guitar to the left will be yellow and red. I lost most of my memory back in 1984 due to an accident. I've been haunted by an image of something plastic. I can not for the life of me get a clear picture of what it was. All I know is it's shiny. Mostly yellow with red. Going to name it 'Toy Box'. After a haunting memory os something no one remembers.

Cause, have you tried copying the punch and printing it out on water slide or stick on vinyl? Just a thought! Also I remember as a child getting a big red plastic fire truck with the top part being yellow(snapped on rack,reels hose etc. As one piece. We're about the same age I believe, just trying to remember red/yellow things from then.

Tonka also made a big red dump truck with a yellow dump bed, although it was shiny it wasn't plastic.

Yea, they were built like a tank back then, Tonka trucks are all plastic now?

Loved my Tonka trucks! My brother and I both had them. Wasn't a Tonka. This memory may not have been something I owned. Could have been a toy I played with at a friends house. We did have a red and yellow plastic tug boat. 

I've already had trouble with the long skinny number printout. Can only imagine what a 3 x 14 inch water slide would be like. This stuff wants to bunch up like plastic wrap. I'll stick with the poke-a-dot idea. Using a good stiff paint. And if I mess it up there's always more spray paint. :)

I'm on board with you on the memory situation(head wound) I have to look in my wallet to see who I am half the time. :-(  Sorry I can't think of anything else that was red/yellow plastic. Have you gone online and searched for a spraycan of dots? There's a speciality company, that carries hard to find items like muffler bearings and heliarc spark remover. I think but not sure the nozzle is adjustable for the dot size. :-)! Does your printer have a banner option under settings. Or you can go to OFFICE DEPOT and have them copy and laserprint on a piece of vinyl. Go home an transfer to your box. Ill see if I can find the link and post it. Here is oneClick here

Blut Rat, the tops are looking amazing. Maybe a pencil ersaer dipped in the paint just a bit might work. or if you have a punch, perhaps you can make a stencil. using painters tape or something so the paint doesn't creep under. You may have to do a few at a time. i'm thinking to get clean holes, maybe sandwich the tape between, a couple pieces of wood and drill some holes with a sharp bit?....you could use red painted dowels, drill a bunch of holes, then knock the nice flat sanded dowels, spray painted, flush with the lid and glue fro the underside? that would be impressive, give it a "mechanical" look. just thinking out loud of things i would try. i think i would go with the dowels. some could even be left slightly proud of the surface. (then clear coat it with semi-gloss to blend everything.

i lost a bunch of my memory also, after shot treatments in the looney bin for two weeks, wife and daughter said, "go ahead and try it". bad bad bad. (a way to cure depression). oy.

I know one of the old tricks that's used when painting crisp stripes on walls is to put the tape on, paint it over with a layer that's the same color as what's underneath. Once it's dry, you apply the color you want. When you peel the tape, the lines are crisp.

Also, I know stencil makers use spray adhesive on the stencil to stick it down to what they're painting.

If you want to make rivets, there are plenty of other techniques that mainly involve using a syringe to apply the paint...

I'm 55 and I remember a Yellow AM Radio for kids like a Playschool kinda thing. Hard and thick plastic like the Lionel Trains back in the 50's and 60's. Had 2 large clear dials with silver faces and Red writing.

Sound familiar?

Hooch. Folks don't realize how frustrating it can be. I don't have any lasting memory problems. Well, other than being absent minded. :) Just from that point in time backwards. I live in the same town I went to school in. I don't remember most of the people I knew in school.

Bummer Daniel. Not sure how long ago that was for ya but hang in there. I've made enough memories in the last 30 or so years to make up for it. 

I used the 'punchi' as a stencil. Held it down with painter's tape. Worked Awesome! The paint I used is pro grade artists stuff. From my try at learning how to paint. I may not be able to paint like a pro but my stenciling is as good as any. Thanks for the link Hooch. I'll check it out for future ideas. Always have my hands elbow deep into something. Thanks Daniel and Francois for the ideas. Always good to know you can get great help here.
