I wasn't aware of Tom Doughty but just watched some of his stuff on YouTube. True inspiration. If I could meld some of that with the punk attitude of Hollowbelly and the originality of Son Of Dave, that would be something to aim for.

RE: Toms slide technique. Apparently it comes from having no use of hid fingers on his left hand due to a spinal cord injury. I have tried a number of techniques and have settled on something similar.

Is there anyone on here that can tab out some lap steel licks to practice?

Norm..really pleased to have you onboard..both on the forum and the fest. Interesting you saying about numb fingers - I sometimes suffer with that (I suspect carpal tunnel syndrome, although I know I really ought to have it diagnosed) and I know a few people who have tried playing lap slide guitar after suffering stiffness or numbness in their fingers. Mind you, a guitarist friend of mine blamed changing from regular playing to lap-style Dobro (for a quite short but very intensive period) for bringing on his wrist and hand problems - he had an operation and fortunately it's way better now.

Have you come across Tom Doughty? He's an interesting bloke, a wheelchair user who plays lap steel guitar...in some ways he's quite a cussed and one-off character, totally goes his own way in terms of what he plays and how he plays it - for example I just can't cope with the wierd way uses a slide, on his finger, lap-style..but that's Tom for you.

I'm interested to hear what you made of the Daddy Mojo Reso guitar...I've not actually seen one, but as a guitar builder I'm always interested to see how other people go about putting gear together.
