Old fiddle tune on a new wood top banjo. I'm doing it in G since I didn't have a capo for A. A friend used his CNC router for the inlays in the neck and top ...

Sorry Jim it sucks to lose a friend...rest assured she is surrounded by all the loving cats and nature she so loved...I would have liked her to! Thanks for sharing and Happy New Year to you!....Meow^..^

Oh yeah Nancy, she often wove these cattails from fresh picked lavender - those were some of my favorites!

Thanks Nancy, so good to hear from you. Happy Solstice and New Year to you! Thanks for basket cat. One of my dear friends passed away in 2017 and she was not only a crazy Cat Lady but also an award winning basket maker. She also loved to weave cattails

Yeah Gary, he did a great job on Little Wing! Tuning by ear can be painful sometimes - I usually have to switch ears from time to time.

Jim - I never thought I'd reach my current level - so I do enjoy every day!  There's definitely something cool and universal about playing music.  My younger son has serious chops (see his "Little Wing" video here) - and I used to questioning things like "how do you know where your fingers are?"  Over Thanksgiving, I was tuning up and he said "Tuning by ear?!?!   How do you do that?!?!?"   Of course, he was kidding, knowing that I hadn't been!

Thanks for the kind words Gary. The key is to enjoy oneself no matter what level you may have attained. That being said, I have a couple of jam buddies that I'm extremely jealous of their ability. Here's one young friend who's only in his 20's, makes beautiful banjos and plays circles around me. I really hate him, lol

Another stellar video from Jim "The Master" Morris!  You'd be an inspiration if I thought I could come anyway near this level of play!   NICE!

Thank you smilingdog. This is a newly renovated old house in town that I'm sharing space with a 3 other folks who teach fiddle, voice and piano. I've got 10 students right now and that's about all I can manage. You can see the roll of carpet padding behind me and I think carpet will help tame the acoustics a bit.
