This could be git related or not. So, what's on your workbench at the moment?

I have 4 scarf joint necks in different stages of work.

A 25" scale pine 5 string neck for a Banjo-Res, A 25" scale Red Oak neck for my 6 string Strat-Res build, A 24 & 1/2" scale Red Oak neck for my 6 string Double Cut Tele build and a 27" scale 6 string Baritone Conversion neck for a Modern Strat body I have.

First off, Hey Paul, it only looks like he's more frustrated than he probably is, all caps, even in his profile lol, anywho.... Robert, I just realized we're neighbors, I'm just down the road from you in Salem, 15 minutes west of Clarksburg, give me a shout anytime you need a hand.

ok, first of all, let's calm down, you weren't being judged, and no one called you names, let alone profanity, secondly, I'm a disabled vet, there are many people on this site with numerous disabilities, no one judges or criticizes.

That being said, re-read my text after you read this, I was clarifying for others, that "YOU WEREN'T" in all likely hood as frustrated as your text lets on, let me explain further, cap locks(all capital letters being used) when typing texting etc, signifies yelling, I merely pointed out you like to use caps, as I noticed you use them exclusively, even in your profile.

The problem with text and reading text, is you really don't know how the other person is expressing themselves, with complete certainty, there's no body language, no visual reference,  no voice inflection, so sometimes written text is taken out of context, which you did in this case.

You have my apology, for not being more clear myself, but, I don't tolerate people using profanity at me, at the very least, you could have asked for me to explain my meaning, or question my text, instead, you jumped to conclusions.

So stay or go, no loss to me with your foul response. And if that's how you react, doubt anyone else will miss you either.

you don't know the half of it, you should see the private message he sent I forwarded to administrators of this site. I guess being upset means it's ok to cuss at anyone you feel offends you. Sorry to fan the flames.

Looking good.

ok, finally got to work on the CBG today.  Tunes to DAD...  has no sound holes and the pickup isnt ready. Found first major problem. the A string slot at the nut is too low. touches first fret. both D strings are fine. deciding if there is anything i can do to fix it or just cut my losses and start on another nut. any ideas from the Brains Trust ????

Super glue and shavings from scrap part of any nut to fill in the slot and re-groove, or, turn it upside down, re-cut slots, or...what I do, shim it, brass shim, plastic shim, I've used plastic from any old store package items, exacto cut the plastic to size, place under nut, some will say it will change the sound because the shim is different material than the nut and blah blah blah -barf-, not that any negligible difference will be detected, nut is only a fret when open strum, even then if someone say they can tell I'd call the BS hotline.

or remove nut and use a bolt, save this nut for another build, plenty of choices.

Really good looking git Timothy. As Richard said, there's many options to fix that nut. I'd probably use a wood shim or a bolt to replace the nut. Most of my gits have bolts for a nut.

Hey Robert
My name is Rose and I live in Colorado. I understand the typing in all caps because I have really bad eyes. I was typing that way on Facebook and people always asked me why I was yelling. I don't think anyone here is opposed to you writing in all caps. We just need to remember the reason and understand you are not yelling. I for one have been following this so I could see you build which sounds really cool.

I would also like to say Richard was not Judging you, it sounds need to me like he was trying to help us understand you were not upset. He has helped me out on a build and is a really stand up guy. Give him a chance, thanks for being on this site and please post your amazing build

get your story straight and don't put words in other peoples mouth to justify your attitude.

what was said wasn't even said to you "First off, Hey Paul, it only looks like he's more frustrated than he probably is" but was said to Paul as I thought others might assume you were frustrated, and second, re read before you comment falsely.

Finished Phase 1 - Be Prepared 3 stringer.  Boy scout mess kit tin, wooden match nut and lower string guide, bridge is the embossed part of the clamp on the tin.  Pickguard is really more of a leg rest so the tin isn’t being dampened.  Topo map on the neck.  It rings pretty good acoustically, a bit metallic as expected, with a pretty long sustain.  Phase 2 is a pickup, hopefully a boy scout first aid kit below the pickguard, and I want to figure out how to burn a compass rose on the pickguard.

That git needs to be heard at a Jamboree! Also some late night blues around the campfire whilst camping in the woods.

If I had discovered CBGs while I was a scout leader, I would have taught them how to build!
