VIDEO: Ben "Gitty" Baker - "The Band Played Walzing Matilda"

Cigar Box Nation's Ben Baker tuned up his Open G cigar box guitar (tuned GDG) to play the Eric Bogle classic, "The Band Played Walzing Matilda."  It's a fitting song for Memorial Day.

Beautiful job on this Ben. This song always brings a tear to my eye. Your version brought a couple.

Great job on the song Ben. It doesn't matter who sings it, I can never listen to the whole song.

great Aussie song well sung Ben. thank you...  Lest We Forget....

This is an ANZAC song , sung every ANZAC day 25 April....  I guess that is our Memorial Day.

Very Nice B"G"B, reminds me of Tom Russel too. Very good singing and mindfull performance. All Respect!

Excellent!

Respect to our Aussie Diggers and our great American allies.....well played and sung

Mate, that was well played and sung. The song was written by Eric Bogle, a Scot by birth but resident of Oz for yonks. He has written some very good songs, another in the same vein is "Fleurs of the Forest."

Bit of an ask, but is there any chance of the TABS.

Eitherway, thanks for posting.

Great version of a well-loved song

thanks Ben

John T  (aussie)

an Australian song, sung with an Irish accent, for an American Holiday, and so very right! we're all in this together, deeply moved,  Thank You Ben!

Awesome.!Do you guys call your sleeping bags a Matilda as well?

Ben

That a good song, in honor of the day, you did a wonder job in doing it too.
