Amp in same box as CBG

Thinking of adding a speaker and amp SDA-T type in the same box as the guitar .... I have enough room in this box to place the speaker top bottom or end.... Would the sound from the speaker get picked up by the piezo itself?

The piezo will pick up everything, handling noise, plucking of strings, vibrations from the neck and box and the speaker. You might need to close in the speaker some by building a box within a box. Might work fine, try it and see. May add a little echo/reverb effect that would be beneficial, may be too much and need to be subdued.

Tnx Paul I did a bit more checking and I think my box is big enough to create a totally separate space to sound proof...... I am gonna give it a try..... will keep you posted!

One more thought... would a bar piezo be any different? as far as picking up vibration as it would be directly under the bridge and not in the box!

Haven't used one yet, but I've heard they have less volume/output and most people use a preamp with them.

This would probably work out better for you since your using a amp and speaker in the box and they don't have as much a problem with handling noise and feedback as the disc types do.

I've used quite a few bar piezos and like them. They pick up more of the strings and less of the extraneous box sounds. They do not necessarily have less volume/output. depends on your setup. I'm currently building a fretless standup bass using a rod piezo, with a preamp and amp/speakers built into the box. I'll let you know how it turns out.
