Have a piezo wired as in pic. When switched on its fine. Switched off with toggle spdt switch off position (two prong)very noisy. Here's the diagram . Anyone know how to reduce the (off position noise? Thank you.

Here's another pic showing the actual switch ...it's an spst sub mini toggle switch

I don't know what the "top on top" means Jon, but, unless that switch is faulty, or your connections are bad, or bridging, i'd expect no noise when turned off, i'm thinking the "t on t" must represent your jack, if so that switch should act as though you don't even have a piezo when turned off

Sorry that "top" on the diagram was just for my reference....the black wire is ground and the red wires hot.
Still strange that there's 0 noise when "on" but bad when "off"

just guessing, but that suggests the switch is not fully opening, and may be bridging, can you view the contacts of the switch?

I can view the 2 contacts clearly. I just don't get it...the contacts aren't touching each other or anything with solder etc. The switch goes off and on as it should but off buzzes /noisy like crazy when it's off. Clean when on. I could leave it on but that sucks..maybe the piezo doesn't like a toggle on/off lol
Well strange if I touch the guitar cable on the metal portion of the cable (while plugged in) and toggle (off) and on no noise. Is there a way to fix this? Grounding issue somehow? Can I fix? I wouldn't know where to start because it functions but maybe a different king of cable ? I've tried 3 good ones...hmmm

piezo's generally don't need grounding to the strings, it seems the switch has introduced a grounding issue ,so i'd do what i said earlier about grounding the switch, then, if need be ground your strings, as i said in the other post, you don;t need to solder while you test, just a couple of alligator clips, or even just bare wire twisted on while you find the issue

not sure Jon, sounds odd, can you try a ground wire from the switches body to the jack ground and see if that helps? No need to solder it to test, just touch the wire at each end while switch is off, and see if it helps

Thanks everyone...I think it's just gonna be noisy when it's off...ill try as suggested here but it's just when it's off thankfully. No switch next time or remove the switch and see
Wayfinder ,
Great explanation. Really thank you!! will an on/on switch allow me to turn the switch /piezo off and not cause noise? I think I get it.

You could try a high value resistor across the jack, like 10Meg?  It would definitely cut down on the volume, unless it was high enough... Wayfinder's suggestion of the SPDT switch, and just ground the "off" position is spot-on.

another idea,[i think], might be to fit a small LED light inside the box to go on when the switch is in the off position, completing the circuit
