I really started working on it.

I cut the box to fit the neck on both ends.
Will then decide on how I do the headstock, make it, then will glue the freboard.

I want to keep it simple, but do what it needs to play well and sound good.

More to come

Thanks... I must say that I like the idea...

If I had to build another 6 strings guitar, I would do that. But I already have too many guitars and bodies waiting for a build, all Teles.

But maybe that I will do that with a cheap neck that I have, and add the bottom part, like a traveler guitar, and try some add-ons.

But for now, a 4 string is more what I need. Having a choice of bodies is a plus...

That's cool.

You could make a 3 string neck to change out with the 4 string or maybe a 4 string short scale bass neck all in the same box.

Or keep the good working neck and switch to different boxes. Deep acoustic box or Reso box.

I have a solid body in mind...
I finally decided to glue the neck to the box yesterday.

Today, I did the same with the lower part of the top board.

Btw, "Don't throw away you old credit or ID cards..." I use them when I clamp a board that I don't want to leave a mark.

I also decided to add some electronics to the Flatpup. So, I will install a ModBoard from GFS from the back, add the pots on the front, and drill 2 sound holes.

I will use it in acoustic Blues Jams, so I need some control on the sound. I could use pedals in the electric set, but it's a no-no for the acoustic part...

Ah... the real fun will begin soon. Apply the finish, adjust the nut and the bridge... and play it. Yeah!

Coming right along.

Good idea with the credit card, just remember not to put the raised lettering to the wood because it could imprint to the wood.

Good idea with the Mod Board. Thought about making a multi effect box out of several of those, would be cheaper than buying all the different effect boxes. Put a  equalizer, delay, reverb, boost, distortion and overdrive all in a cigar box between the git and the amp. Use stomp switches to turn on the ones you want when you want them.

Yes, good remark about the raised lettering. I normally don't use them, but forgot to mention it.

You're right about using more than 1 effect, it would be too costly. I have many that I built for a hobby, having worked in electronics all my life. But I also bought a couple to spend less time building and more time playing, a few years before I retired. I am still not interested in playing with electronics anymore these days.

If your retired, you'll back to it some day. Hahaha

Today was body time. It is now all glued and sanded.

Now I need to decide where to drill sound holes, install knobs and the jack.
The body is sealed tight, and ready for the next step.
But I still need to finish the neck.

I'll have to find the best position for the sound holes, etc... for the look.

Just wondering...

I was thinking of doing 2 holes, 1 above the neck, 1 below.

Should I use all brass? Buttons, tuners... or can I mix the colors?

There will be 2 knobs.

Hummm... questions, questions...

You can use whatever colors you want. There are no rules. That being said, go with what you feel works.

The git is coming along nicely. Can't wait to see and hear the finished product.

Yeah, right... I forgot the "no rules" thing :-)

I'm normally too obsessed about details.

Thanks for the reminder. My wife always tells me that "I should Stop Complicating My Life" oh well...

Thanks...
Well, assuming you have a guitar, I always felt that FZ said it best:

"Shut up, and play yer guitar."
