Paul - I definitely want to follow your progress on this new amp circuit you're building.  May be interested in one down the road, but now I've got too many projects going on.  Most are NOT amps, but I've got the guts for a couple of those as well.  Keep me & the nation posted!

Thanks for the info buddy. That's good to know, I'm still new to this building thing. Just learn as I go. It's been fun!!!  I made a banjo neck out of popular, it's about 1 1/2 thick it's ok so far. I do like the red oak and maple. I wonder if red bud would be ok?

That's what this neck is. I made a poplar neck for another build I did. It came out nice.

Hi Paul; thanks for the update. Sorry for the delay in my reply. Did it work out with the speaker? It seemed to be quite a range of caps to try!

Thanks for the advice.    A subwoofer cab. would be non invasive and I could try out different speakers to see what I like.    The Roland micro cube  gx is a good amp .......but that tiny speaker just can't throw out enough bass.    I'm sure it doesn't help that it has one tone knob rather than bass and treble knobs.          Thanks for adding me as a friend.

It works! And it's in its permanent home. The circuit board I built in January didn't pan out, so I spent some time trouble-shooting it, and just started again from scratch a week or so ago. I must have done a few things differently on the second iteration (like examining each solder joint with a magnifying glass before proceeding), because it's working really well. I'm just a few screws/washers away from installing the speaker (still on alligator clips) and I'll post a picture.
Thanks again!

Hi buddy ,good to know you :-)

Yes, it worked great on the breadboard and I've got all the hardware installed on the box for the soldered version. I'm just swapping out a few capacitors here and there for comparison before soldering them on the circuit and it'll be up and running.
I chose a pretty solid cigar box for the amp, and it took longer than expected to dremmel out the component holes from the inside. Also, I did some things like installing the pots on a cardboard template first so I could wire the grounds in sequence more quickly and efficiently than on round one, when I'm pretty sure I burned one or two of them out in process.
I can only work on this sort of thing after the kids are in bed on nights when I have the time, so these projects can move glacially. But I expect to have it done within a week or two. I'll post pics and vids.

Thanks Paul I'll try that. Trying to get something other than regular fret stock

Paul, thanks for your comments. The was the first pine neck I tried and since its a short 21 inch I didn't think I would have a problem with warping. In addition the oak fingerboard should help strengthen it. So far its holding true and I love the way it sounds!

Thanks for checking out my pics.  Not my old truck, but I like it too.

Thanks on the yard stick fret board, Paul.  Pick was the first I recall seeing do that.  I've used them half a dozen times and kind of developed a yard stick collection- a bunch I will not cut up for guitars....

But that box and yardstick were bought togtether - 2 very nice boxes and 2 broken yardsticks (and a cool one intact) for $15.00.    I'd love to find some more broken sticks - no guilt builds.

Did you see the custom ones (yard sticks) that I painted up out of new, 98 cent yard sticks from Home Depot?
