Hey, I'm a newbie too but really hooked on the craft. Hoping I can learn to play slide....I'm building fretless. Making mistakes building but getting better.

Hi Ken,
I look forward to building a CBG in the near future ... I've been too busy building skyscrapers and honing my playing skills ... I have my 10,000 hrs in on each of my construction, music and driving skills ...... one day i may commit to putting the hours in to a new skill ... flying fixed as well as rotary wing aircraft are next on my agenda, maybe squeeze in a CBG or two ... I just don't like doing a half fast job ... It may take me 1000 hrs to build one ...

its not about being able to play. its about being able to build.

Relax, enjoy, and build whatever. Ther are no rules. Only the enjoyment.

Start with the 20 minute diddley bow, or a canjo. Make a three stringslide guitar. buy your neck from Gitty, add a cheap prewired pickup. You won't be dissapointed. You will be hooked.

Once you've built the next ten, you can focus on getting better at playing.

... Hmmmm ... ok thanks Blues Frog ... I will probably approach this 'build' with some lateral, out of the cigar box kind of thinking ...
