We are organizing a CBG workshop held one Saturday a month at the 61 roadhouse & kitchen in Webster Groves MO. (St. Louis Area).  This is also the home to the St. Louis CBG festival each year.

Bill Kunz of 61 has been generous in offering us a place to meet, practice, discussed ideas and what ever members decide to do with the time. Gary Herget and myself are contacts for this club and are open to ideas to make this a fun club. As soon as we have commitment from members, we can set up a Saturday each month to meet mornings. We haven't set a day or start time as of yet. We need to know who can commit at least to a start up and discuss as a group when and how we want to run this. Possibilities are great!

I'm turning my focus on two kinds of builds in OCT. Ironing board Lap Steel and finish up a CBG bass I've kept on the back burner. OCT will be fun so bring something you want to share, play or swap. We had free giveaways the last few meetings. Thanks to those who brought free stuff. Who doesn't like free? I'm bartering on a trade, who knows, I might actually get lucky! Trading, buying or swaps have been fun so far. There are several new members and a few who met us during closing who said they'd like to join!

Had a decent turn out today OCT 17TH. 6 members shared some interesting builds from 100 year old barn wood and very old cigar boxes. Very cool looking stuff. Got a few jams going on the bass, 6 string CBG, and 3 & 4 strings. I learned a bass blues riff & turn around. Got down on the harp. Free CBG boxes were distributed.

See you all next month.

Maybe I'll have a sat day off one month soon

You've been missed! C

Me too...school and FT employment are kicking my ass.  Sounds like you all have been having a good time though.  Miss the Saturday Roadhouse Jam Sessions...

Sean, hurry up and pass the Bar exam. That's good to hear you have foot employment, what size?

Ya, missed another one as well. Left arm is still in a brace. Guitar playing has been reduced to trying out new sounds without playing much. As always. Hoping to be there next month.

For those in the nation who read this thread and think, "I wish we had something like this around here." it's worth it. You don't need a impressive place to have it. Just a time, date and duration of the event. Set some simple guidelines if needed and away you go. You don't have to have a theme or schedule of events or planned events. Just people who share the same love and interest in CBGs. Great place for beginners to start playing in front of people. Great place to get hands on with builds and building. Looking forward to seeing more of these started.

A BIG shout out and congrats to Preston J. Laisure for his first club event!

Get better Rat, if nothing else play Kazoo's for awhile. : )

Well, it's my left arm. So there's still plenty of things I can play with.

Correct, that's the spirit!

Enuff of that rat it's a family restaurant

Sorry I missed it. Had to go to southern Mo and pick up a new vintage guitar. 67 Fender Musicmaster II, just wish my father in law had kept it out of the sun, the nitro finish is badly yellowed. I should have some new builds next month.
