Came home from a two week trip and found this. What would cause a string to do that? Has been played very little.

Hey Paul
Maybe the break angle of the string holes is too severe and kinked the string making a weak spot ?
juju.
Paul,
I agree with JuJu, give your string hole a little more angle that should fix it, and sometimes strings just break. Speaking of breaking , here in San Diego we just had a 6.9 earthquake! It rocked my shop. My 2500 pound milling machine was tipping. I am not easly scared, but I was. Now I know what people mean when they say they didn't think it was going to stop.

Cheers
Bob
I don't know what caused it but that is the coolest sound hole I've seen.
I agree with juju...but it could also be a bum string or something like that, I've had a few of those...great box though, love that soundhole.
Thanks for the info and comments. Bob, hope all is Okay. Earthquakes are scary. I was in San Diego a couple days ago, glad I didn't stick around.

Guess I will file the hole a little and try a new string.
Thanks, All is well. On the radio they say it is the worst since 1970. There has been 3 more quakes since my last post. They say the were not after shocks.
I really am a big baby.

Well, I don't know where other people get their news but I find mine on CBN! As for the string...was it a different gauge to string length than you normally use?
Paul! Hey. Long time no hear!Bad string? - WY
Hi, Wes. I've been checking in often, but haven't built anything lately. Getting in the mood to get back at it.

I'm actually too distracted by the beauty of this build to make a cogent comment.
Correct! Some of these just pop eventually. May not even take a humidity change for doing so.
It sure is a nice instrument. Is it a ukulele? which tuning?
