I like my CBGs to look ike pretty much what they are - cigar box guitars.  I like looking at other people's designs and artwork, including motorcycles, Harleys, beautiful women, airplanes, old time blues artists, cars, boats, etc., etc.

I am planing a series of "tall ships" ukuleles.

My topic of discussion today is the common theme of CBGs I call Death and Destruction.  The skulls, skeletons, weapons, tombstones, etc., etc., even skull tuner knobs.  We builders are able to personalize our instruments in any way we want and that is fine.  I just think the death and destruction side is going a bit overboard.  How about more happy themes?  Music, dancing, children playing, the Norman Rockwell innosense of the 50's.

Does anyone out there agree with me?

Thanks......I found Paint on my computer and fooled around with it a little.

And I have done t shirt transfers.  That sounds real interesting.

What I have been doing with the limited graphic stuff I do is to use Avery shipping labels.  And print on them.  They have a peel off back and adhesive.  They work pretty well and come in "transparent" which isn't, and opaque white.   That is how I did my Faux Cigar Label pictured on this forum.

ah  ,  cool

As much as I like the artwork people do I have to admit less is more for me in guitars and songs. I could give a rats ass how cool it look I'm after sound having said that I do appreciate what people do wall hangers and such. This site is 90% build 9% talking about building and 1% playing and that needs to change. My Swamp Witch is probably the most boring one ever but it can sound like a ton of Chaos..................

my last build nothing fancy until you play it.

18 in.Tenor Ukulele #4.

It looks reallly good to me.  Lots of nice detail like the tapered neck and the uke style bridge.  I bet it sounds fine.

Here is a pic of my latest CBG.(s).  Birds eye Maple top, Maple neck, Mahogany sides.  Fake Monte Cristo label - Faux Cigar-  Faux CBG because I made the boxes -with finger joints.  My "shop"  is the galley of my sailboat.  Also, Walnut trim, piezo pickup, 4 string.

nice

Thanks!  This is the transparent shipping label..  You can see some of the wood grain underneath,

Those are cool , good size boxes. I just made a acoustic 4 string should be done tomorrow . I like the banjo bridges might give one a try.

Thanks.  The boxes are 9"x11.5"x3.5".  I made the bridges out of Walnut.  Pretty good sound and volume.  I don't have a table saw, so I invented a router jig to cut the finger joints.

I've only been building since Feb, so just learning the trade.

I love it.  BATGUITAR!
