I've caught the CBG bug. I just finished my first build and had a great time and learned so much new information. I've done some freelance writing in the past and have been thinking about putting a project together and publishing something myself. I would like to put together a CBG magazine. I would like to get a sample digital issue together and put together a Kickstarter proposal to try to get funding for a print edition. Is there anyone out there that would like to contribute? It can be an article, how to column, photos, art , really anything you can think of. If you have any ideas please let me know. I'm also thinking it would be cool to offer a digital mix tape of mp3's with the issue. Any feedback would be appreciated. Message me here of cbgmagazine@gmail.com. Thanks.

i'm  sure    Shane  didn't  expect    over 10,000   members  to  this  site    either  .

stuff    can    grow   more than  expected  ,,     but only  if you  plant  it  .

back  to  basics  is   kinda  our motto  .

people  here  even  want their  stuff  released  on  old  45's  again  .   or   even  dvd's that  look  like  45's  .

sure  dvd  is easire  ..  fark  a download  is even  easier  ,,   but      not as  cool  .

just as    it  is easier   to  buy  a   pickup ,  than  to  make  your  own , even  if it  costs  more  .  its  cooler  .  and    thats why  we do  it  .

fark  .  you  can  buy  a  mainstream  guitar    from  china   for  less than  a cbg  ,,  but  .. a cbg  is cooler  .

etc etc

offtrack  / retro  ,, is what  we  do  .  i  dont see why  the exceptions

I would appreciate any contribution. I'm trying to start small.

Yep. As I said I think its a great idea. I think a community zine would be really cool, but it wouldn't be doing anything more than CBN. With the best will in the world though, I can't picture a mainstream or even semi mainstream print mag on CBGs. It would be awesome though ;-)

There seem to be a number of CBG publications around by esteemed members we know aimed at beginners, a free pamphlet containing key addresses given out at fairs and fests would be a start, but if we have an experienced member with the resources to create a reasonably priced publication, surely it would be worth a go....?

Thanks for the response. I appreciate your opinion. But "a pointless trip back in time " we're talking about building and playing cigar box guitars!!!!! I do agree this site is a great resource but it can be a bit overwhelming to a beginner. A magazine could also help someone unacquainted develop an interest. I guess though maybe I am old fashioned and do prefer print as well.

Phrygian, you are a TURD.  Shooting down this idea.   But yeah.   What you said makes sense.

I'm not sure I can be another centerfold.

Ha ha

\thread. You just won the internet.

I heard of someone on Facebook doing the very same thing

Yep, and that did not go particularly well...

'Fraid I'd have to agree with The Kid on this one. I just don't see print being overly viable. I used to write freelance for a very kewl art mag. It burned through its funding in less than a year. Production costs. How you get things out to the masses: word of mouth. The exponential effects of two like-minded people talking, and so on, and so on... Playing at a gig where 50-100 people see and hear your stuff, still only results in 1 or 2 folks tire-kicking. And do we really want this to go mainstream?
