Hi all:

I'm wanting to play/sing  Chris Christofferson's Why Me Lord song at our church "some day".

Really have minimal ability at playing (but I build some pretty sweat guitars:)

Anyone ever play this song or have some simple ideas?

Thanks in advanced!

Some questions first.

How many strings?
Which strings?
What tuning do you use?

3 strings

GBG

Open G standard

Learning it as I'm typing. To make things easer on both of us I'll call the strings 123. One being your high G. Three being the low. Fingers are from your pointer to pinky is 1234.

the intro

One the fifth fret start with your third finger on the fist string and second finger on the second string. Play all three strings.
Keeping your second finger on the second string lift your third finger and place your fist finger on the first string fourth fret. This cord is played for one beat. Slide this very cord down. Your second finger on the third fret second string and your fist finger on the second fret fist string. This cord is played for one beat. Stay right where your at. With your second finger still on the third fret place your third finger on the fist string fourth fret. Play all three strings. Now slide this cord down so your second finger is on the first fret and your third finger is on the second fret. Play this cord once. Lift all your fingers off the frets and play the first and second string open. This cord is played once. Then place your second finger back on the first fret second string and your third finger back on the second fret first string. This cord is played once. Now here's a jump. Bar across the third and second string on the seventh fret. This cord is played for one beat. The next cord is the open first and second string. played one beat. Next cord your first finger first fret second string. second finger second fret first string. Then both of these strings open. Then bar the third and second string at the seventh fret. Then all three strings open.

That's the opening. Sorry about the jump to the seventh fret. Couldn't find anything that would work but that. I'll get the rest of the song in a bit.

Thanks!  I"m gonna get started right now.

Just before the verse bar all three strings at the seventh fret.
Start the song with all three strings open.
On the word Done. bar at the fifth fret.
On the word One play all strings open
On the word Known bar all three strings at the seventh fret.
on the word Lord back to all open.
On the word Do bar at the fifth fret
on the word You back to all open
on the word Kindness bar at the seventh fret.
on the word Shown back to all open.

Now that little ditty before the chorus.
first finger second string sixth fret.
slide this down to the fifth fret
then the third.

Chorus.
Bar across the fifth fret.
on the word Wasted all open
on the word Jesus bar at the seventh
on he word Am all open.

this next cord, a 7th, can be played by fist finger first string forth fret. Third finger second string sixth fret and play the third string open.

On the word Now bar at the fifth fret.
on the word Needed play all open
on the word Jesus bar at the seventh fret
on the word hand play all open.

Then repeat

There's single nots between the cords. I didn't know if you need or want them. If you need help pleas ask!
