Anyone know of a method or material that can be used for black frets?  Kind of weird question I know lol
I can think of a couple of ways of getting my frets black but I think they would eventually "rub" off - I'm looking for something more permanent if possible.

thanks all!

Black toothpicks? Black plastic strips? But those will wear away quickly. Perhaps thin bone strips dyed black. Check out Randy Bretz and see if he can help. Bone or horn may also be soft. Other than that, gun blue or gun black but that too will wear off.

Cable ties ( zip ties ) could be a options
Too soft I would imagine.

That or graphite fiber cloth made into sheets and cut. Kinda like the fiber on fishing rods. Or graphite rod stock.

would be cool if you could find some black carbon fiber rod. They are used sometimes as a non-adjustable truss rod.
OH CRAP. Black Corian sample pieces cut into thin strips. Duh.

If you could track down a source of ebony, such as the black keys on the older pianos that wood is certainly dense enough to handle the wear. It is not too bad to work with either.
Life is too short for reboots. Long live Ubuntu!!
