Please post pictures of your contest submissions here. Be sure to include any pertinent information about your instrument that you think others, including the judges, would enjoy knowing.

*** NOTE ***

When the submission period ends on 12/31, I will be deleting all comments from users that are posted in this thread. To make it easier on the judges, this thread needs to end up with just the posts from the contestants. It makes it difficult for the judges if they have to wade through scores of pages of posts to find the actual entries.

Contest Rules:

  • One submission per person.
  • Each submission shall be an instrument of the builder's own construction and overall design.
  • The instrument shall prominently and visibly feature a cigar box in the design.
  • Each builder will submit up to five pictures of their creation. No videos please till after the judging is complete.
  • Entries must be submitted no later than midnight December 31, 2013.
  • Builders shall post the pictures of their instruments in the separate "Contest Submission Thread."
  • Builders should include descriptions of their work, including any technical details such as features, materials used, or any other information they feel would assist the judges in reviewing the submission.

Once the submission period ends, all comments in the submission thread from other CBN members will be deleted to make it easier for the judges to review the entries. The judges will review the pictures and select a winner.

The decision of the judges is final.

Feel free to post away, just know that this thread will be cleaned up once the submission period is over.

Good luck and good building!!!

Hi i like to enter my contribution for the Steampunk contest.A.D.Eker, Black Cat Bone CBG Holland. its a Croc skin luxary coffietable cigarbox, A special stick, and some strings, its all customised for this build, its a 4 sting in a Mandolin style.

The jackinput is a bongo clamp, made fit for the jack, the rezzo is a catbowl, the carryrail is made from toiletseat holders, the stick, neck is compiled from, oak, pine, the tuners are from a old spain guitar. the pickup is a piezo unther the bowl. the other

deco parts are screw safety covers. It sounds fruity, and springy, acoustic, and whit amplification its a screeming hounddog!

Hope you like it,in case you need more info, get in contact! GREEETSZZZZ  !! A.D.

I named this one EYE-GOR!

That is an optical theremin in the corner. The theremin was used for science fiction effects back in the day. It is also said to be the first electric musical instrument.  A speaker is attached on the antenna. I installed a valve to control the steam pressure. When you turn the valve the chain turns the volume knob. On the headstock, I made a tamborine.

This thing is loud and it jams! I had a blast building it!

d'DAMN...

It is without undue hInderance or reticence that I accept the challenge proffered by the society known for the musical instrumentation of tobacco product containers (CBN), to engineer and accomplish the assemblage of a device to propagate aural emanations in a manner that quite fortuitously corresponds with the realm of endeavor to which I am currently involved. Quite serendipitously, my recent fabrication of the “dielectric Dimensional Aural Manipulatory Nanograph” ( d'DAMN) has positioned me quite favorably to provide Daguerreotypes documenting the creation of an instrument that promulgates the excitation of the aural and ocular spectrum to a deponent, through the manipulation of electromagnetic and esoteric etherial emanations.

Characterization of the constituent components...

Organic cellulose components:

Re-claimed and re-purposed Drew Estate Unico Serie cigar box body.

Thrice layered and shaped half inch red oak planks combined by adhesion to form the neck and through body platform of the device.

Brass components:

A finely crafted eagle to facilitate orienting the device to an accurate magnetic compass heading and to dissipate accumulated spectral aurae.

Impingement guards (re-claimed hearth screen frame) to shield the woodwork, electroluminescent conductor and wilkinson machines.

Wire markers indicating the calculated positions required of a twenty four and three quarter inch tonal scale.

Palatially ornate latchkey supporting the six ferrous tonal strands for acoustic emanations, adjacent to the wilkinson machines.

Supporting bridging arch (reclaimed drawer pull) supporting the ferrous strands at the body of the device, positioned twenty four and three quarters of an inch from the latchkey.

Compass rose and associated gearing and cogs at the base of the scale, for automated magnetic polar orientation.

Aural and photonic-ocular electromagnetic components:

Six ferrous tonal strands correlated by gauge in an ascending tonal progression.

A high voltage electroluminescent conductor engaged by sonic activation to correspond with dimensional shift and arrayed adjacent to the ferrous tonal strands running the length and breadth of the device.

Singular electro-magnetic coil activated by the motion of the ferrous tonal strands positioned to procure optimal EM resonance.

Acoustic magnitude and resonance controllers with crystaline adjustment knobs.

The power and control devices are interred within an inebriating spiritous canister (re-claimed Jack Daniel's whiskey tin).

Operative characteristics – Through manipulation of the ferrous tonal strands and the associated visual electroluminescent stimuli, peregrination to an elevated dimensional plane of delectation is attained. A variety of tonal manipulation instruments (slides) may be applied to the device's ferrous strands while engaging the instrument with a plectrum in a horizontal plane.

The purpose of this device is to facilitate the transference of the operant and auditors of the contrivance to the temporal and physical locus contemporaneous with the design and manufacture of the d'DAMN, i.e., the Victorian era of an alternative dimensional brane, at the geopolitical place of your choosing!

Respectfully submitted to the Nation for their perusal...

Only a total of five Daguerreotypes are being submitted, the attachments included are duplicates of the three basic views shown above, in the event that original file examination is required for clarity or detail...
