Somebody mentioned using a hack saw for a fret saw, worked like a charm.
The first one I used was to thick.
I found a 32 tooth per inch saw, and it was better.
I hammered flat the waves in it and it was closer, I filed off the remaining waves and it was perfect.
Kudos to whoever though this tip up in the first place.
OH Yah, I have med sized frets, maybe the larger ones would be thicker.

If the frets came from stewmac, all their frets have the same size tang.
I used this for my first couple of fret jobs. I used a hacksaw blade that I flapwheel sanded to the right thickness.
Now I used the HF flushcut.

+5 for Matt. HF Japanese Flushcut is the shiznit. $9 online and is .001" thinner than the StewMac tangs. Works GREAT. I even made my own stop like the StewMac version. I'll see if I can get pics on my blog.

I used a strait cut hack saw blade (not a wavy cut), then I sanded the paint off of it and it worked fine.
