I just wanna a small light with a switch and a battery on my cbg. Anyone have any simple ideas on how to do that electronically?. Maybe like a fender light bulb from an amp or something simple like a Christmas bulb. One light would do....

go  to  the dollar store  and grab a    toy  with an led  in  it ..  or  find an   old  toy  or device  with an  led   ,,  either  use as  is  or  connect   with 2 wires  and   ad  a switch  to   one  line  as a breaker .

small   thin xmas  light will    work  ..  just   pull  one   out ,       it should  have 2 wires  or   contacts to solder to  .

So I have some of these type bulbs in your illustration but no box so I don't know the voltage or what battery to use. Also not sure if different on/off switches have different capabilities but radio shack has a few switches...I'm just trying to go for a single bulb like the one in your drawing.....

some times a  9  volt       is  too  much   for them  ..  depending on the bulb   it  may  get too  hot and  burn out  after a few   seconds   without a resistor  .   you  can try  testing  them    with a  9  volt  and   work  your  way  down  on  battery    size  if need be  .

there are  many  types  of switches  .. on/off  2    /  3   /  5     way  .,.  hi  low  .. steady  ..   temp  etc  ..

you  want  a single   on off   and  have to  decide  if you   want   it  to  stay   on    or    off  after  fliping the switch  .. or  just  whils   the  button/ switch  is  depressed / flipped .

tell  them   what you want  at at the counter .

i  think  you want a single  on / off  toggle  .

if  you are  willing to pay  for the switch  .. it  may be in  your  best interest  to  tell  them  exactly  what you want to   do  ..  they can set you up with the    whole  unit  .

taking apart a simple  flash light  may  be  an option  too  .

Thank you very much for the detailed info! I appreciate that very much. I was trying to use one of the calculators to determine what kind of battery goes with 2.5 volt bulb but I don't get how the calculator works.... I'll prob just waist a few bulbs and use some alligator clips....can you solder wires to a battery?

i  wouldnt  solder to a battery   ,,  its  best  to  use an  existing  battery   pack  from  an old toy  .. even  if you  have to   take the  back  off and  use the   whole    back   piece    them  hide  it  in  the guitar  .   a  simple  battery  holder    / pack   is cheap  at   radio shack

ps .... AA and AAA batteries are  1.5volts  .  2  or  3  should   do  the trick.

a 9  volt  may be too  much in    some cases  .

I like this basic type of mini light because I have hundreds in case they burn out...so once I find out how to light just one and with an appropriate battery I'll have quite a few spares...
You need to use a resistor with an led in order to get it to glow. There's a bunch of online calculators you can use. Like this one http://led.linear1.org/1led.wiz
These are great replies. Thank you. I'll keep you posted what I find or come up with...

there  ya   go  ;-)

Oh yeah......
I used a 9 volt battery and a strip of 3 leds i bought online. The switch is a 2 way from radio shack.

My kids loved it!
