I'm an aussie, but currently living in LA - my local mini-mart (here in LA) sells cigars and I've got a few boxes from them, they just hand them over if they have empties lying around. I built my first couple of CBGs while in Brisbane, but got some appropriately sized "tea-boxes" from a craft store. They were good enough to learn building on but wouldn't recommend them as they were pretty flimsy. I realise this doesn't help answer your question but am curious as I plan to keep building on my eventual return to Oz. There is an Australian cigar box site which may be able to help, try there.

I've never heard of it but it is probably true, cigarettes etc aren't allowed branding etc on the box anymore (like that's gonna stop people smoking) if you're in Melbourne I can spare you a few

I wonder if all branding is removed from the box, would this be an acceptable loop hole?

i doubt this will continue indefinitely, instead cigar boxes here will have the brand names all covered over or removed.  Which sucks.

ah well.  I got heavily into cookie tins a couple years ago because cigar boxes were so scarce here tim ;)
